MY RIDE WELLINGTON
IN-HOUSE SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT
SOCIALS MANAGEMENT ONGOING MY RIDE
Our typical project at R + S has had the flexibility to maximise the project and the time to get things right.
What happens when things have to happen now, and often?
The rate of production and our creative responsiveness must go up, but quality should never be sacrificed. Building on marketing toolkits from Sheppards head office, and by supplementing with national campaign material and engagement in community posts & events, we’ve built the online presence of this local store.

THINKING FORWARDS TO THE RIDER
At My Ride, a lot of thought goes into how cyclists feel, and what problems they face. We added one more question - how do cyclists consume media? Part of our answer was to deliver content for an incoming generation. Videos and photos that engage with pop-culture, are filled with bursts of energy, and nestle perfectly onto mobile screens.
THINKING BACKWARDS FROM THE RETAILER
We think the experience of buying a bike, and the biggest reason to shop at My Ride Wellington, is the heart of the store and those who work there. What can be said about every one of the shop staff is that they care, and each has their own quirks, ideas, hobbies, and skills. Our content had to harness the power of this, to connect online viewers to the in-store experience.
THEY CAN FIX BIKES, BUT WHAT ABOUT SPEAKING TO CAMERA?
This is the greatest point of learning in our project. Ultimately, it’s about building trust that you’ll fairly represent them on screen and listen to their concerns. It’s also about building confidence, and not losing who they are when the anxiety of the camera is in front of them. Quick but clear scripts and shot lists help. Confidence in the plan becomes confidence in performance.
